Compass Medical, P.C. Honored with Nesson
Award for Collaborative Approach to
Delivery of
Medical Care
Compass Medical, P.C. was presented with a Nesson Award for Collaboration
from Partners Community HealthCare, Inc. (PCHI), at the group’s recent annual
meeting. The award recognized Compass Medical P.C.’s new Southeast
Medical Center facility, which opened in East Bridgewater on July 30, 2007,
and represents a new era in the provision of collaborative medical care on the
South Shore.
At the recent Partners Nesson Award Ceremony in
Boston, George E. Thibault, M.D., Vice President of
Clinical Affairs for Partners Healthcare System
(center) presented the Collaboration Award plaque
to Compass Medical, P.C. Executive Director
Jamie Barber (left) and Compass Medical, P.C.
President George J. Clairmont, M.D. (right).
Named for H. Richard Nesson, M.D., PCHI’s founder and the former president of
Partners HealthCare, Nesson Awards are given annually to PCHI physicians and
groups who exemplify his commitment to improving care in the areas of
collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
The new 70,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility brings together Compass Medical, P.C., providers with ancillary services and
independent specialty practices from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, South Shore Hospital and Brockton Hospital – all under
one roof. In so doing, the facility helps create synergies and align incentives in a way previously not possible for primary care
providers who are dependant on community specialists outside of the Partners network.
By bringing together multiple services under a single roof, Southeast Medical Center
has made possible the creation of multidisciplinary care teams across the boundaries of
private practices, creating cost-effective and efficient care models. Such care team
opportunities exist in musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, diabetic, oncologic, OB/GYN,
reproductive and gastroenterological care.
Compass Medical, P.C. President George J. Clairmont, M.D.
said, “This ambitious undertaking represented a massive
amount of work, dedication, outreach, and
relationship development within the entire Eastern
Massachusetts health care market. The bringing together
of all this expertise is unparalleled in our community.
And the outcome – a new care delivery model that
truly benefits our patients in an extremely convenient
‘one-stop-shopping’ facility – has been, quite literally, the
talk of the town.”
“PCHI was founded with a commitment to improve both the quality and efficiency of
patient care,” said PCHI CEO Thomas Lee, M.D. “The leadership at Compass
Medical, P.C., through developments like Southeast Medical Center, is helping to make
that vision a reality.”
In 2000, Compass Medical, P.C. won the Nesson Award for Innovation for its Diabetes
Management Program. In 2004, Compass Medical, P.C., again earned the Innovation
Award for its Electronic Medical Record Initiative, based on its Centricity EMR
implementation.
