Welcome to Taunton Primary Care

About Our Office

Compass Medical in Taunton is a primary care practice with over 20 years of history within the community. The Taunton office originally opened its doors on August 17, 1987 by Dr. Achey and another physician, as Internal Medicine Associates of Taunton (IMAT). As the office rapidly grew, tripling in size, Nurse Practitioners were hired and other physicians joined the practice. Specialty services and radiology were also added to this site for “one stop shop” medical access to patients. After a few partnerships with local medical groups, this practice became Compass Medical in 1997.

Today, Compass Medical Primary Care in Taunton continues to take pride in offering the utmost “quality care” to our patients. We care for patients from 16 years of age to geriatrics for routine wellness visits, complete physicals, DOT physicals, management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, heart disease, asthma, and the like.  In addition to routine care, we also provide bone density testing, ultrasound, vascular testing, and x-ray on site. Our Taunton location also offers Specialty Services for rheumatology, podiatry, urology, diabetic education, nutritionist counseling, and family or individual counseling by licensed social workers.

Our office prides itself of bringing convenience into the community by offering same day sick visits.

All Compass Medical Providers operate on the same electronic medical record system. This “EMR” database facilitates the communication about your health care to any Compass Medical department and improves the quality and timeliness of any follow-up care that may be necessary. In addition, all Compass Medical Patients have direct access to our ancillary and specialty services for additional care. For a full listing of all services offered, click here.

The Urgent Care Center at Southeast Medical Center is available to all members of the community.

Meet Our Providers

George Clairmont, MD

Dr. Clairmont is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Clairmont is the current President of Compass Medical, P.C. He is a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society, the Medical Group Management Association, the American Medical Association and the HPHC Pharmacy Committee. Dr. Clairmont's clinical interests include cardiovascular disease, diabetes and lipid disorders.
